ACADEMICS
For too long, AUHSD has focused on launching new programs while core academics have suffered. Teachers are overwhelmed with responsibilities unrelated to classroom instruction, class sizes have increased, and student performance continues to decline.
Math and literacy scores remain alarmingly low, while the district highlights graduation rates and college readiness statistics that do not fully reflect whether students are truly prepared for success after high school.
Many students are graduating without the reading, writing, and math skills needed to thrive in college or the workforce. Families deserve honest accountability and schools that prioritize real learning over inflated metrics.
Germaine believes students deserve both high expectations and strong support systems.
Germaine’s Priorities:
Strengthen Math, English, and Science instruction
Expand classroom academic support programs
Reduce counselor-to-student ratios
Support Arts, Athletics, and Career Pathways
Restore classroom structure and learning environments
Ensure students graduate truly prepared for college and careers
At Anaheim High School, Germaine advocated for increasing counseling support from one counselor per 705 students to approximately one per 390 students because every student deserves individualized guidance and support.
